Hand-crafted leather goods are often beautifully embellished with designs. The designs are made using various tools. A leather crafter places the tool against the leather and uses a light craft hammer to press the design into the material. Once the tool is taken off the leather, an impression is left. The artist then continues on with their next tool to create a complete design. Leather designs often take a great deal of time to create and complete. Each impression is done by hand and some require several different tools to complete even a basic design. This is a craft where the basics can be learned in one class, but it takes a lifetime of learning to master.
